August

Ok - so I haven't posted since late August so I have a lot of catching up to do!
We were able to go to the State Fair this year and had a great time enjoying all of the animals. The birthing barn is always a favorite of ours and this year we got to see about 10 little piglets nursing on their mama. Made me feel grateful that we only have one at a time, well most of us anyway:) We of course enjoyed the cream puffs - Megan is definitely her mother's daughter as you'll notice her digging into the whipped cream with her fingers.

Mason, who's too cool for school, isn't a big fan of whipped cream (who's child is this?) so he opted for Dippin' Dots instead.

And daddy and Mason had to enjoy their annual run on the big slide...

Mason always gets his picture taken in this dog background - he is quite a ham when it comes to making silly faces for the camera.

Here are Mason and Megan at the bottom of the Piggy Bank slide - Mason was so sweet with his little sister and gladly went down with her when she got scared at the top.

And leave it to Daddy to win Mason's heart by winning this stuffed Pikachu as we were walking through the games to get to our car. It was at the basketball game where the hoop is odd-shaped and tilted back and even Jeff admitted that it was a 1 in a million shot for him, but he did it and made Mason's day.

I'll be posting more again soon on our September adventures! Thanks for checking in:)

Zoo Picnic

My company has an annual picnic at the Zoo that we love to go to. Even though we have a zoo pass, it's always fun to go to the picnic for free food, popcorn, drinks and kids' activities. This year, all of the attractions in the zoo were free for us so we took advantage.

The first thing we did was ride the train - and good thing we did. By the time we walked by it again later in the day, the line was outside the station and past the carousel.

This was Megan's first time feeding the goats. She wasn't sure about it at first but after she saw her brother and I doing it, she gave it a try and loved it. She would give one a piece of food and then jump up and down excitedly.

Mason's obviously an old pro at feeding them but still likes to do it each time we go.

We also rode the Zoomobile which was a good way for mom to rest her feet. Plus you get to see a lot more animals than on the train ride.

Jeff took this picture without me knowing. It's not the most flattering shot of me, but it's one of my favorite anyway. I guess when you have kids, you realize it's not all about you anymore:)

Mason and I went back in the evening (they kept the zoo open until 9pm for us) and did some of the things that were hard to do with Megan along. We saw the bird show for the first time. I'm not sure why we've never been to it before. Mason is a huge bird fan and it's free all the time. He was most excited to see this Bald Eagle up close. He's seen many pictures of them and read about them, but never seen a real one.

Mason's 6th Birthday Party

Mason had an Indiana Jones' themed party this year so we did a treasure hunt to search for the Crystal Skull. The kids followed clues around the yard to find various treasures (snakes/lizards, glow bracelets, compasses, etc.) and at the end found a treasure chest pinata.

Mason was so nice to help Megan along the way.

It was mass chaos when the pinata broke - even the two year olds knew what to do and scrambled for candy.

We had to get creative with the cake - it was dinosaur (because Sam's Club didn't have Indiana Jones themes) and we added an Indiana Jones figure. Mason was happy with it and no one questioned it:)

Overall, it was a great party and I think Mason and the other kids had a lot of fun! Now, we start planning for Megan's birthday in September. With Jeff's and my birthdays in August, and Baby due in October, we are going to have four busy months in a row every year;0)
